Who am I?

With weekly trips to the library and only being allowed to check out as many books as how old I was, I grew up to be an avid reader. I loved to read David A. Alder's Cam Jansen mysteries, Beverly Cleary's Ramona books, Roald Dahl, and anything about dogs. One summer I even read Louis Sachar's book all the way through each night for a few weeks straight. At age 11, I, like most kids that age, developed an obsession with Harry Potter. I couldn't get enough of Harry Potter and I had to find any kinds of books that reminded me of the series. While I did find plenty of books that filled that void while I waited for each Harry Potter book, I discovered my love for the young adult and fantasy genres. I also discovered my need to share the books that I love with others as I began seeking out friends who share the same passion for reading that I have.

I always knew I wanted to be a writer, and so once I finally got into college, I knew I had to pursue a degree in English with a focus on creative writing. While taking my classes I've discovered that I love American Literature and how it fits in with history. I also took a science fiction course and helped found the science fiction and fantasy club at my university with my classmates. I helped to revive the gaming in the club with weekly board game nights and occasional Smash Bro. Saturdays. Although school is taking a lot longer than I hoped it would due to my body developing Crohn's Disease, I'm determined to finish my degree and I will hopefully finish in about two years.

Once I graduate, I plan on working and saving up for a tiny house so that my husband and I can live a minimal lifestyle. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is having to convert my book collection into an ebook collection on my Kindle. But I'm determined to keep all my signed books!

Why I'm Blogging

I started this blog because I'm very interested in connecting with others about the books that I'm interested in. I almost started booktubbing first, but I realized that I should probably start out blogging first since it will take less time while I'm in college. I can also share my thoughts about the various literature that I read in my courses.

TL;DR

• I like books, writing, and discussing these things. 
• My favorite genres are Young Adult fiction, fantasy, science fiction, romance, and American Literature.
• I also like gaming and right now I mostly play Terraria and my 3DS.
• No, I haven't seen that TV show, and I probably won't. Sorry.
• I love music but I wasn't allowed to listen to popular stuff while growing up so most of the stuff I like is old 80's music or Indie (Pavement, Slint, Dinosaur Jr., Sleater-Kinney, Sonic Youth, etc.). I also love The Killers and Imagine Dragons (which I started listening to when my brother moved out), although I still listen to newer Indie and listen to bands like Grizzly Bear and Battles.
• I have way too many hobbies, but I paint, draw, knit, crochet, create stained glass windows, play the piano, and do whatever I feel like doing at the time because it's fun and I want to learn how to do it.
