#TBRTakedown 2.0

From July 25th to 31st I'm going to be participating in the #TBRTakedown read-a-thon created by BookTuber Shannon to smack some books off my TBR pile. Even though I only just heard about it today, it is something that I really want to do because there are a lot of books that I have been meaning to read and this will be a good way to get to some of them.

For those who don't know what a read-a-thon is, it's basically where you commit to reading as much as you can over a period of time. This is my first read-a-thon and so I don't know exactly how everything works, but I'm excited to learn. There is supposed to be contests and prizes with the #TBRTakedown as well as various BookTubers and BookBloggers hosting. For this read-a-thon there are specific categories to fill, so in this post I am going to share the book choices I've made to read during this coming week as well as a little explanation as to why I picked that book. I'm also including the page count and the amount of pages I will have to read per day to make sure that I read all of the books on my list.

First book in a series

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman (515 pages)

While I was at a Christopher Paolini book signing and getting my collector's edition of Eragon signed, my mom decided to purchase the books of the other two authors who were also present at the signing. Rachel Hartman was one of those authors. I love the cover of this book, and also I love dragons and music, and this book seems like one I'd find interesting. I'd also love to get it off my TBR pile.

Sequel book in a series

Allegiant by Veronica Roth (526 pages)

This is the last book in the Divergent series and I really need to get around to reading it. I'm not the biggest fan of these books, but I figured since I've read two-thirds of the trilogy, I might as well finish it. Once it's off my TBR pile, I can get around to reading better books.

Out of my comfort zone

Light in August by William Faulkner (512 pages)

It's Faulkner. 'Nough said.

Actually, I read the first chapter in my American Literature and really liked it. I wanted to finish it up this summer and have kept on putting it off. It's time to get this off my TBR pile.

On your shelf over a year

The Tale of Telsharu by Valerie Mechling and Samuel Stubbs (350 pages)

I bought this at SLC Comic Con two years ago and haven't really gotten around to reading it. The coauthor Sam is a childhood friend of my brother and their family has been really good friends with mine. I am also interested in reading an Asian inspired fantasy.

Most recently hauled book

Cress by Marissa Meyer (552 pages)

I bought this because it was a good price on Amazon, and I also just finished reading Scarlet. I also want to get ready for the release of Winter this year!

These are the books that I've picked. It seems like the majority of them are in the 500 page range except for one. They're going to be 2455 pages in total, and I have to read approximately 351 pages a day to finish them all in time! I'm not sure if I can finish all of these, but hopefully I will be able to at least get started towards finishing them before school starts up for me again.Share me videos or links with your picks, or comment to let me know if you've read any of these books I've picked and whether you liked them or not.
